Weevil

That’s my weevil. It sits patiently on the wall outside when I leave in the morning, and there it is waiting for me in the evening when I return home. I wonder if I can train it to put the kettle on and make a cup of tea for me at 4:30pm…?

On Saturday we went for a walk at Roadford Lake. It was rather wet and muddy in places, but there were some lovely areas which were teeming with butterflies. I’m still waiting to snap my first marbled white (they just won’t stay still), but I did get a blurry ringlet and a blurry small skipper. We also spotted some froglets in the wetter areas, and (below) loads of these red soldier beetles.

    Hi.
I found a weevil who like yours sits by the kitchen window or the wall next to it looking at the world beyond. My calla lily, my cyclamen and a cactoid by that same window got nibbled to perdition before I put 2+2 and put the plants in the garden. However a weevil by the cat’s biscuits got me worried. Are they comparable to spiders…all over the place but nothing to worry about unless one is a plant? Or are they like cockroaches…all over the place and I might feed the kids some larvae?
